💥 How I make a GREAT figure?

The first step in the creation of 3D figures is conceptualization. This involves brainstorming ideas and sketching designs. It is essential to consider the intended use of the figures, whether for tabletop gaming, display, or other purposes.
This is when you decide wheter to make 35mm figures or bigger.
To make "Skavenslayer" I use this reference and decided doing at 35mm scale.
Tools used:
- zBrush - Modeling
- Keyshot 7 - Rendering
The next phase is digital modeling. This is typically accomplished using specialized software. The time it takes you to model it will depend on your skills as a modeler and your ability to handle the software.

Disassembling figures and making insertions
Do you know that disassembling miniatures is crucial to make better printings and allow the painter to choose how to best perform his work?

- Anycubic PhotonWorkshop - Printing

- Resin: ABS Like Resin Pro
After the digital model is complete, the next step is to prepare the file for printing. This involves exporting the model in a compatible format, such as STL (stereolithography), which is widely used in 3D printing. It is crucial to ensure that the model is properly scaled and that any necessary supports are included to prevent structural failures during the printing process.

Painting figures could be the most important step in this journey. If you paint your own printed figures you could see if details are good or you need doing more prominent.
During my learning, I made this step a lot of times because, at first details were so bad because I make details in a 28' monitor and then I printed it on a 35mm scale (mutant-rats and the dwarf are smaller). So I back to modeling it, printing and painting again. Doing this, figures look more and more professional.

🙋♂️ About me
I'm Alvaro, I was born in Madrid, 1987.
Me, always building as a child
Since I was a 3 years-old, I have always been passionate about drawing and building. As a teenager, when I started collecting my first figures in 1999. The most I ever did was make small touch-ups—never considering it as a serious pursuit.
'Piesplanos', my first "customized" miniature with Green Stuff in 2008.
My professional path initially took a different direction. I studied Software Development and spent ten years working (2010-2020) on various IT projects, putting aside my artistic interests. However, after the 2020 pandemic, I realized I needed a change. At 33 ("too old" some would say) I decided to rethink my future and embarked on a four-year artistic training program (09-2020//07-2024) at a private art school in Madrid.
This is me on my traditional sculpture aula in sept 2023.
At first, my goal was to improve my drawing skills and see where that path would take me. But then I discovered sculpture, and everything changed. Not only did I have a natural talent for it, but it completely captivated me. My passion grew even stronger when I delved into digital sculpture and ZBrush, where I gained significant recognition both inside and outside the school.

That was the moment I made my final decision—to fully dedicate myself to my true passion and pursue a career as a sculptor of figures and miniatures.
Since I finished school (Jun 2024) until now, I haven't stopped working on build my dream, making figures and miniatures of different sizes, but above all going much deeper into 35mm scale.
I also collab with other sculptors like Fanath_miniatures and I would like to collaborate with more brands to make designs of all kinds of figures.
